Hey, girl, hey! Just so you know, some of the links on this blog are affiliate links, which means if you decide to purchase something I’ve lovingly shared (especially on Amazon), I may receive a small thank-you in return, at no extra cost to you!
Queen, it’s great to see you again! Let’s cut to the chase. I am not an expert on prayer and won’t claim to be. However, if you ever wondered how powerful praying for your husband can be, here’s a testimony of what consistent praying can do.
What is prayer?
How would you define prayer to your five-year-old? You would say, “Prayer is simply telling Father God what’s on your heart, thanking Him for His love, and listening to what He says next.” That is pretty simple, and it has never stopped being that simple.
Let’s not complicate praying for our husbands. Yes, they are strong, amazing men of God, yet they need our prayers, too. The Bible says so in Ephesians 6:18.

Prayer for Inner Man & Spirit
Pray for his inner man. He’s a man after God’s heart, yet he gets hammered in ways he doesn’t want to share with you out of wanting to protect you. Don’t force him to open up; make intercession for him like you do your girlfriends when something happens to them.
They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him and delivers them. Psalm 34:5-7, NKJV
Pray for his spirit. The first point was about his soul; now, we are praying for his spirit. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you in praying this point. He prays perfect prayers and knows exactly what your husband needs. Ask Him to help you pray, and He will.
“And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren…And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.” Luke 22:31-32, 40, KJV

Prayer for Natural Self and Spiritual Warfare
Pray for his natural self. This pertains to his physical health and everything that is connected to him in the earth realm, like his job, businesses, passions, gifts, and talents.
A straightforward, yet powerful, prayer to kickstart praying for his natural self based upon the Word of God is, “Heavenly Father, let Your Kingdom come and will be done in my husband’s body as it is in heaven.” Why would you pray that? Sometimes our husbands battle things they don’t want to tell us. Pray in the Spirit and understanding. Then, start getting specific. “Lord, I thank You for manifesting Your healing touch to every cell in his body, and regulating his faculties. Thank You, Father, for causing him to be the head and not the tail, blessed coming in and going out,” and whatever else the Lord places on your heart to pray. It may seem commonplace or trite, but you’re praying to the Lord for His world, just making it personal for your husband, and that’s huge.
Engage in spiritual warfare for him. As you have grown in your faith, you’ve realized that we battle unseen enemies victoriously and that God has provided us with His armor and weaponry to overcome our defeated foes every time. The key to manifested victory, though, is staying in the love of God and living a willing, obedient life for Him. Don’t try to be Mrs. Super Intercessor; you know you haven’t forgiven your man for making you fall in the toilet again. Deal with your crap first, boo, so you can war for him from a pure place.
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel…Ephesians 6:10-19, KJV
Love, these are just tips and suggestions. As you spend time with the Lord, asking Him for wisdom and strategy in praying for your husband, He will reveal the details. It’s not a one-size-fits-all situation. He loves you both exclusively and will make plain His heart and will for your lives.
