Sis, have you ever felt fear about something God instructed you to do? If you’re anything like me, you’ve birthed babies and overcome the hardest seasons, constantly seeing God throw His weight for you. However, sometimes we still find ourselves at crossroads where we must choose faith over fear. Let’s silence the voice of failure and step forward in what God has called us to do.
Faith Over Fear: The 3 C’s That Help You Walk in Purpose
As women after God’s own heart, we have to embrace the language of heaven. What does that even mean? What we say, think, feel, and obey must align and agree with the Father’s heart. This is where we receive the three C’s of faith: clarity, courage, and confidence.

CLARITY
Definition: the state of having a full, detailed, and orderly mental grasp of something (m-w.com)
Origin in this context: Clarity comes from God, through divine revelation, after spending quality time with Him (see related scripture here).
In depth: To walk in our calling, we must first have clarity regarding our God-given assignment. This doesn’t come to us sporadically; however, we can get confirmation based on what draws us. Every believer on this planet has the same purpose (The Great Commission), but our calling (the avenues we take and gifts used to fulfill purpose) comes from the gifts and abilities given by God. The Lord has called me to be an artist, and through my art, I redirect people to Christ, whether it’s through stories, songs, dance, or illustrations. Be clear on your calling. This is necessary for forward movement.
COURAGE
Definition: taking action in the face of fear and uncertainty.
Origin in this context: Courage comes from the command and impartation of Yahweh (see Joshua 1).
In-depth: In Joshua 1, Yahweh confronts His other servant Joshua about his calling and position. He then commands him to be strong and of good courage because He’s with him wherever he goes. How does that relate to us? The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So, if He’s the same, then so is His Word. We can count on God to be with us just as He was with Joshua. Because He is with us, our condition has to match His. Just as we put on Christ, we must now clothe ourselves in courage. The “do it scared” concept is all about courage. Now that clarity has come, courage is the catalyst to move in that calling.
CONFIDENCE
Definition: knowing you can do something well because you’ve prepared for it.
Origin in this context: Confidence comes from consistency in habits and mindsets (see related scripture here).
In-depth: In 1 Samuel 17, young David heard the demonic jeering coming from Goliath, and righteous indignation filled him. He proposed to King Saul to let him overtake Goliath because he knew his time as a shepherd, facing and defeating wild animals, prepared him for that moment. David also knew that more than his natural “training,” God was with him. Remember Joshua 1? What do we see at work here? Confidence that came from consistent courage, which came from God-given clarity about who he is. This is for us, too.
Faith Over Fear: How the Three C’s Work Together
We couldn’t receive the three C’s without first choosing to keep faith in the Father. He’s never failed us, and He never will. That faith in the Lord pushes us to seek Him, spend time in His presence, do the soul work, and be still with Him. Then comes clarity. Afterwards, the Lord imparts courage to us and the Holy Spirit sets a fire in our belly for forward movement. This is the tough place because it’s in courage where we battle against enemies of our soul (spiritual wickedness, the flesh, wrong beliefs, and such). However, our continual victories produce confidence that leads us to flow with whatever God says, no matter what.
